About
Comuna began with a familiar Los Angeles problem: wanting to go somewhere, but not knowing what was happening nearby.
The best events are often buried in social posts, newsletters, flyers and word of mouth. Finding them takes too much searching, and sometimes you hear about them after they've already happened.
Comuna brings local markets, dinners, workshops, live music, pop-ups and neighborhood gatherings into one place. Not everything across Los Angeles. Just the things close enough and timely enough to become a real plan.
We're starting in Santa Monica and Silver Lake + Echo Park, with plans to expand across the city. By focusing locally, we can highlight the independent places and smaller gatherings that citywide guides often miss.
Sometimes the best plan is a few blocks away. We're gonna help you find them.
How Comuna works
We collect and source local events, organize them by neighborhood and timing, and surface the plans that feel most relevant right now.
- RelevantNo endless directory. We focus on experiences people genuinely want to attend: markets, dinners, workshops, live music, pop-ups, cultural events and neighborhood gatherings.
- NearbyLos Angeles is experienced neighborhood by neighborhood. Comuna shows what's happening close to home, so a spontaneous plan doesn't become an hour in traffic.
- NowBrowse what's happening tonight, this weekend, or in the days ahead. Find something that fits. Make the plan. Go.
Who we are
We're five students at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
We're a small team building Comuna ourselves, not a big company, so your feedback goes straight to the people who make the app.
